Fourth Annual High Plains Powwow

Celebrate Native American Indian culture at the fourth annual High Plains Powwow hosted by Carbon County Museum on Saturday, September 10th at the Carbon County Fairgrounds in Rawlins, Wyoming. This Northern Traditional style powwow is free for dancers and spectators.

A tentative schedule for the day includes:

10:00 am: Dancer/Drum Registration Opens

12:30 pm: Dancer/Drum Registration Closes

1 pm: First Grand Entry

Contest All Categories

5 pm: Dinner Break

6 pm: Second Grand Entry

Contest All Categories

9 pm: Awards

Over $9,500 in cash prizes will be awarded to the best dancers in over 20 categories, including:

Tiny Tots (walking to 6 years old)
Junior’s, Teen’s and Men’s Fancy Feather
Junior’s, Teen’s and Men’s Grass
Junior’s, Teen’s and Men’s Northern Traditional
Junior’s, Teen’s and Women’s Jingle
Junior’s, Teen’s and Women’s Fancy Shawl
Junior’s, Teen’s and Women’s Northern Traditional
Prairie Chicken (Men’s)
Golden Age (55 plus)
Tribal ID is required for dancer registration. This is a drug-, alcohol- and pet-free event.
