The California Conference on American Indian Education (CCAIE) is holding their annual conference March 15-17, 2012 at Humboldt State University. (http://humboldt.edu/ccaie/)

In collaboration with the 35th Annual California Conference on American Indian Education, and on behalf of the Live Your Language Alliance, we would like to invite you to register for the LYLA Pre-Conference gathering. The Live your Language Alliance was envisioned by language advocates, language programs, and tribal communities to support the language preservation and revitalization efforts of Native communities throughout California.

Past LYLA conferences planted seeds of inspiration for many language program activities and events. Over the past 5 years, we have continued to actively teach, learn, document, share teaching strategies, and promote language revitalization efforts with other tribal communities. The time has now arrived to reflect, visit, and share our experiences with our friends and colleagues across the state.

This gathering will address language revitalization strategies, teaching methodologies, and grassroots language revitalization. The workshops will provide an opportunity for tribal language programs and educators to exchange ideas, network and form new alliances. Please save the date and check the website above for registration information.

LYLA Vision Statement
It is the desire of the Live Your Language Alliance to hear and speak the traditional languages of the Tolowa, Karuk, Yurok, Hupa, Tsnungwe, Wiyot, Mattole, and Wailaki.
